2013 Girlfriend's Retreat
120 women arrived at the Westin Stonebriar Hotel on Friday, September 13, 2013 for a 3-day Treasure You Christian Girlfriend’s Retreat. Most attending had only heard of what might happen when they arrived, and few expected the outcome. The theme, “New Beginnings” served as the foundation of every message for the weekend and promised a new tomorrow for all of those there.
The signature Pampering Suite did not disappoint this year with chair massages and hand massages provided by Michelle Lenz and friends and hair and makeup touch up by Glamour RX. All services were provided by volunteers and businesses who gave in the spirit of treasuring others. Pastor Pamela Hines and her daughters showcased their new Perfect Peace Spa collection. The new Treasure You Jewelry Collection inspired by Pat Smith was a hit, along with the always popular Treasure You candles and Treasure You jeweled shirts.
Friday’s Asian-inspired evening was beautiful on the Terrace of the hotel. A sumptuous buffet full of grilled hibachi chicken and shrimp with vegetables along with various sushi and eggrolls were served. As soon as Bruno Mars’ song, “Treasure” came on, it was sure to be a night abundant with fellowship and connecting. The night concluded with a makeup optional PJ party and the captivating testimony by the author of “Poster Child: The Kemba Smith Story,” Kemba Smith. Saturday morning was jumpstarted with an energizing and inspirational workout led by spiritual fitness leader, Donna Richardson Joyner. A sea of ladies in blue Treasure You t-shirts flooded the ballroom foyer moving to upbeat music and motivating one another through the workout. After breakfast, Tina Piermarini, innovative entrepreneur and former Fortune 100 executive, guided the women through a powerful visioning workshop where they each created a poster board for their life’s vision.
The traditional Saturday luncheon was highlighted with the presentation of the 2013 Page’s Angels Awards to two amazing women of courage. Vaniessa Cousin, a single mom cancer survivor and Antoinette Tuff, a courageous heroine from the recent Atlanta Elementary School shooting were recognized and presented with beautiful awards. Pat was surprised with a blue crystal diamond gift presented to her by women who attended her first Treasure You retreat 5 years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona.
We joined together in praise and worship to the amazing voice of Vicki Yohe whose melodies reminded us that we are all bound together by the love of Jesus Christ. Our freedom and hope comes only from Him.
After a full day of activities, ladies enjoyed burgers and banana splits poolside and finished with a fun evening of games and prizes hosted by Pam Southall. The Price is Right never did have as much fun as we did!Sunday morning, the whole gathered for a photo before loading the buses for the Potter’s House. Bishop T.D. Jakes preached an impacting sermon focused overcoming being “stuck, staring, and stumbling” and how we can take our lives to new heights through Christ.
Returning to the hotel for the final session together was bittersweet, only because the weekend was almost over. TV personality Kym Whitley was ready to share her testimony of “New Beginnings” and the role a girlfriend can play. With her witty dialogue and intuitive exchange, she inspired everyone in the room to never ever give up on their dreams. She encouraged us to create our own opportunities and reposition the people in our lives that are not supportive of us. Closing the session, Pat asked for women to stand and share any decisions or thoughts they had for their own “new beginnings”. It was moving and emotional as many attendees shared their visions for the future.

The Treasure You Girlfriend’s Retreat and the impact it has made in these women’s lives would not be possible without those who volunteered their time and energy as well as the businesses who contributed to the event by donating their services and products. Many of the treasures gifted to the participants could only have happened with generous donations such as these. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of the sponsors for making the event a life-changing experience. We look forward to unveiling the plans for 2014 and how you can be involved in reaching even more women to lift them up with inspiration, motivation, and love.View Photo Album
